Comcast Universal Caller ID
Comcast said this month that new technologies will help bring together the company’s digital cable, high speed internet and digital voice offerings with the launch of Universal Caller ID and a mobile application for the iPhone or iPod touch.
Comcast Triple Play subscribers in Oregon and Southwest Washington can now view incoming caller information on their TV and computer screens with the Universal Caller ID service for no extra cost.
The company is also touting its recently launched Comcast iPhone mobile application, which lets users access services such as email, voicemail, movie trailers and TV listings.
Universal Caller ID allows customers to see who’s calling while watching a movie or on the internet and the ability to answer the phone or ignore the call without having to rush to the handset.
The caller ID feature displays the caller’s name and phone number on a pop-up banner on the TV or computer screen and the customer can answer the phone or select “exit” and go back to their favorite TV show or online activity.
Comcast’s mobile app, available as a free download for Triple Play and SmartZone customers, gives users the ability to forward home phone calls to the iPhone, view cable TV listings or watch trailers of movies featured in On Demand.
There was no announcement in regards to how long it will take for this new technology to be expanded to the rest of the States and metro areas that Comcast services.
